You will be playing as a teenage girl who is returning to her hometown for a summer vacation after nine long years. She rekindles old friendships and makes new ones, while reminiscing about the past. Her grandmother tells her that she has to find a date for the upcoming town festival, or else she will be set up with a guy she doesn’t even know. Will she manage to choose a guy, or will she be forced to be partnered up with a stranger? Will she even go to the dance at all?

Casey (Default)
A 16-year-old who transferred to the country’s capital when she was 7. She left behind a lot of things, including the people she loved the most. Now that she’s back, it’s up to her to make for all the lost time.
Arvin
Always the big brother type, Arvin is one of Casey’s closest friends. He is the one who always supported her whenever she needed help.
James
If Casey had a twin, then it’s probably going to be James. He and Casey have known each other since birth, having lived beside each other for as long as they could remember.
Mark
Casey’s childhood bestfriend and secret crush. After nine long years of not seeing each other, Mark has suddenly changed from being a fun-loving kid into a serious and distant young man.
Vaughn
Arvin’s friend and groupmate. He’s going away to college at the end of summer.
Luzviminda
Luz is Casey’s closest girl friend. She is bubbly and and very naive.
Kyla
James’ crush and Mark’s ex girlfriend. She and Casey never became friends when they were younger.

I really really like this! First I got a bad ending when I tried to ask out James (because there seemed to be no other choice) but friendzoned him too many times before, so he said no, then I tried to be nicer to him and ended up with Arvin instead (?). Didn’t really understand this. But still, one of the best free visual novels i know ๐

First of all, this is very good specially for your first game. I enjoyed many of the scenes. I also got all of the endings.
I have a few doubts about some scenes because I saw that you have trouble with the routes, am I right? Some scenes felt too random to me, although rest assured, they were still very enjoying. The writing was polished and well-thought. I only noticed very few typos, which is great for a beginner.
Kyla’s character wasn’t explored much and in my opinion I think there should have been a path where they became friends, though I understand that you left an open ending in Mark’s path. Also, Luz is one of the most interesting characters here, and I’m happy she had a personality of her own and liked James instead of merely fitting the best friend role.
Overall I really really like this game. I hope you make more and I wish you luck on your other projects. I look forward to seeing more from you.

Hello Ran! Well, I’d like to say I really like Summer Paradise! You’re a great artist and a good story writer. The background music is very soothing and relaxing- perfect for bookworms like me. ๐ I love how you added a lot of Filipino culture in the story like terms, games and also some myths and legends. I had a Proud-to-be-Filipino moment while reading! XD I love how the story just keeps on unfolding its elements, not taking a left or right turn, or stopping in between- I mean there are no unnecessary details! There are no unimportant scenes added just to make the story longer, which just makes the story interesting. Anyway, there are some sentences that are in wrong grammar, like some words are added that made the sentence wrong and many more cases, but don’t worry! I still enjoyed the story nevertheless and the mistakes are just minor and won’t affect the story. ๐ Now, for my favorite, I must say it’s James Rodriguez. He’s just the boy of my dreams! I really can relate to Luzviminda (I love that name! What Casey said is true, whoever thought of that name is a genius!) when she’s telling Casey that she likes James. XD I love how he’s so adorable and cute! I honestly didn’t care if he’s good at nothing, maybe his passion in gaming can lead him somewhere. ๐ I also love how they’re having a campfire and Vaughn’s telling some Philippine myths and James is scared! So cute~ Truth to be told, I’m quite scared too. XD I also love how Arvin (or is it Mark?) who mentioned how James always cry when Casey cry, it’s so sweet! Though Mark’s heroic action of saving Casey even if he knows he can’t is sweeter, but I still like James more. :’) Also, James reminds me of Maru from Days of Divine, another VN. If you don’t know that, try playing that one. ๐ It’s a really good VN! Worth checking out. ๐
Overall, I really enjoyed the game and I love it how a fellow Pinay developed Summer Paradise. The background music is very comfortable to listen at and even if there are some mistakes, it don’t affect the story at all. James Rodriguez is the BEST character in my opinion and don’t care if he’s the least popular. I still like him!

And… well, I had a mental-block while writing the script for Seasons of Love, so I took a break by writing this. SOL is set in Japan, just like so many visual novels out there, but I’ve never read a VN set in the Phil. (they’re very few I think) so I decided to write one. Haha, I apologize for the mistakes. When I read it again after it was “published” I actually noticed a few typos and grammar mistakes, but I was kinda trying to meet a deadline when I wrote this, so I didn’t notice those errors.

First of all, I think Summer Paradise is the first VN that didn’t bore me..
I love it ๐ I like how the story is simple not much complication to it although
it might be complicated for my character to have to choose a date…
Anyways, for the first play I got a true ending which I didn’t expect to because
I thought I want to help my character asking Mark out… But either way I like the true ending..
I was going to choose Vaugh but since my character were so in love with Mark back then.. That sort of force me to help her gain Mark but when I get the true ending with Vaugh I was like wow… Words can’t describe.. I made it all sound so realistic did I even though this was just a VN… *laugh.. O yeah I would also would like to say.. Congratulation.. Great job you did with everything in the VN I love it.. I really do… I would rate this 5 stars & would recommend this to my friends who enjoy playing or reading VN โค โค

I finished playing the game just now, And I got a good ending, with Vaughn. Well, Im kinda confused if I follow Vaughn or Arvin. I say that, this game is sooo enjoyable!! (thumbs up) :D. Hello Akemi! Um, after downloading the Mac link and extracting the file somewhere on your PC, click the .exe file and you should be good to go. ๐
If you can’t, there’s another solution to that. Do you have Ren’Py installed? If yes, then simply put Summer Paradise in the Ren’Py folder and select SP from the game list. Afterwards, click the Launch Project button. That’s it. ๐

Hi! First of all I’d like to thank and congratulate you because this game is great! As what has been previously mentioned and addressed on, one of the flaws I saw was the character graphics and a little on the grammar, but anyone who played this thru and obtained the good endings and the one true ending would agree with me that in the end those things wouldn’t matter as much because this game was very interesting and heart-warming. It has served its purpose well, it was a fun read and a good entertainment. The background imgs and sounds are really nicely chosen too.
I love the characters, especially Vaughn. Even without much attention focused on him, I think I somehow ‘fell for him’ when he started talking about family. I was like D’aww, you wise little piece of furball of cuteness–I mean coolness. I would have hoped that his route was more developed (his ending seemed a little rushed butbutbut it’s good nontheless) and I understand that there’re other scenes to be prioritized for the main flow of the story (doesn’t matter right? coz of the two endings ehehe). Despite liking Vaughn’s character more, I just ADORE and LOVE Arvin’s route. I think it was the only one what made me feel a bit of a rollercoaster of emotions like feeling ‘kilig’, happy, excited, and even that one little ‘kirot sa puso’ in one or two moments. Mark is such a tsundere at times, which is also cute in his own way. It somehow tore my heart when I found that he waited for Casey when he was sick AND in the rain. I honestly think that that’s one of the most stupid yet SWEETEST thing a guy could do for a girl. Yet, somehow (and I see you labeled him as the default romance character), I didnt feel like going for him at first (he was my third lol). Idk why because his type was usually my type. As for James, he’s such an adorable guy! I know you said his route was least developed but still, there’re some good bits with his ending, which I found cute. I went for him last because at the back of my head I thought him and Liz are cuter together. Good job too on making a likeable protagonist because to be honest, other female protagonists (character design and whatnot) tend to irk me lol. Hmm, Kyla isn’t too bad either but her character dev’t went too fast I think. I wouldn’t mind seeing James and Kyla together though, and Vaughn and Liz would be cute too ๐
I applaud you and your inclusion of the Filipino culture in this story and how you used those elements to fuel this story. Sa totoo lang pinoy rin ako (mukhang mrami ngang pinoy na naglalaro nito lol, tapos nirecommend ko rin ito sa friends ko) pero hindi ko alam yung isa o dalawang bagay na sinama mo dito bilang trivia, lol. Hindi ko rin kinaya yung mga ‘quotable quotes’ ng mga characters, yung tipong nakakapang-inlove talaga sa totoong buhay pag may ganung sinabi. Sobrang pro, promise. Sana nga sinave ko yung iba ehehe, or laruin nlng ulit.

You said it, Vaughn (plus Arvin too haha) is also like the kuya I never had. I'm an only child kasi, and I've always wanted to have an older brother. =) The traits and qualities that I put on those two gangster wannabes are from my "older brothers" in life: older cousins, older friends, and mga kuya-kuyahan sa school. Actually, all my characters are based on real life people, though they may not have the same names as the ones in this game.
Awww, you're right too, I did rush some character developments! That's why I'm planning to write a short sequel for this, or maybe even a prequel, covering their back stories and featuring more of our country's very rich culture. Hopefully after I finish this very delayed project of mine (TTWM). ^^

Hello Ran-san, again I’ll be sharing my thoughts on one of your visual novels. Aaaah, ok, where can I start? Hmm, well, first of all I must say that I liked this VN almost as much as I liked Once Upon a Hallow’s Eve, I found the story interesting as well as the characters. My favorite routes were James’ and Arvin’s (in that order); James because he is SUCH a sweet boy! (and as someone else has commented before, he’s pretty much the boy of my dreams xD he, he) and even though you said that his route wasn’t as developed as the others, I must say that I don’t think that’s the case, it was really enjoyable (the only thing was that he and Casey didn’t kiss at the end of his route like in the other routes, other than that I think his route is one of the best). Aaah, all the things he does for the MC make you go “awwww”, like the fact that he cried whenever she cried. He’s such a lovable character ๐
Arvin’s route was really interesting, I honestly thought that he wasn’t into things like smoking or drinking (not only because of what the other characters say about him but also because even himself at one point says something that leads you to think that), I really wasn’t expecting the revelation that he’s not as “good” as he seems but well, those things happen in real life, sometimes people make mistakes and get involved in things that will not lead them to anything good. I really appreciate the realism you put into things like these. Arvin isn’t really a bad boy, just someone who has… well, flaws, like everyone else and hopefully has learned something after what his “friends” did to him.
The other characters were nice too. Vaughn’s route is my third favorite route, he is a nice guy though I didn’t ended

Anyway, I was saying that I didn’t end* rooting for him and the MC to get together as much because they aren’t as close/don’t know each other as much as the MC does with the other guys.
About Mark I must say that I thought that he was going to be the character I’d probably like the most but ended up being the character I liked the least… But he does have his sweet side, like the things he did for Casey when they were kids (waiting in the rain even though he was sick just to see the MC and say goodbye…), the only thing is that for his and Casey’s relationship to be a happy one, time is recquired.
(Here is where the part in which I talked about Luz was supposed to be, I was trying to say that I didn’t understand some things like that “I’ve given up on James now, I realized I like Arvin more” and also that why does Casey say in Jame’s good end that Kyla must be shocked because James used to like her and now is with… well, her. I thought James liking Kyla was all a cover up?)
