I finally posted it in LemmaSoft! Whew. Really nervous. I am starting to hate my low self-esteem. Hahaha. :))
Anyway, you can find the thread here: LemmaSoft * Summer Paradise and of course, I also posted it on my blog. a twist in time * Summer Paradise
By the way, I added the acknowledgments at the end of the true path, which, as some of you may know, is Vaughn’s path. ^_^ I just wrote some thank you lines to all the free resources and also to Itwasneveradream who made my logo for free, and unexpectedly too. ^_^
I really am so thankful. Wahahaha. (Am I over-reacting here? Teehee.) Sorry, I’m just so happy! :”)
I will play your game Summer Paradise, and tell you what I thought later. I’ll leave a review on this site rather than on Lemmasoft. I hope that’s okay.
Hi Tatiana!
Of course! That’s alright with me. 🙂 Again, thank you very much for your interest. And… I’m sorry for any mistake there might be. ^_^
Your game is really nice, but let me give you some advice. You might want to hide the outline of the sprites better. It looks a little like you cut the outline of a paper doll and glued it to a background. Ugh, I’m not good at giving advice or criticism, and as I’ve never made a visual novel before, I am not quite sure how to explain this. You made very few spelling mistakes, though I did notice a few. Besides those two things, everything else was perfect. I love the story line, and the cute characters. I tried to get Arvin three times. On the first attempt, I got paired with Vaughn instead. On the second try, I got Arvin’s bad end. On the final try, I got his good end. So, you made it a little hard, but I liked the challenge. I also love the music, it’s so pretty. I must say, the angst was a nice touch, it gave the characters depth, and gave the plot profundity, giving the reader more insight into the mind of the characters. Thank you for sharing this visual novel. I really enjoyed playing it!
Tatiana,
Thank you very much for such kind words! ^_^ I apologize for that. I still don’t know how to edit/make sprites myself so I used premade ones. I’ll do better next time! Ahaa~ don’t worry, I like your advice. I’m also sorry for the spelling mistakes! I will try harder next time to check for errors before releasing a visual novel.
Awww, you’re an exception! You got Vaughn’s path first? 🙂 Somebody I know told me she can’t get his ending at all. :3 I’m glad you got it! Vaughn’s good ending is my favorite, although it’s Arvin’s path that I love the most. ^_^ Oh, and I’m sorry for the angst! I can’t write fluff by itself. I always tend to be a bit melodramatic in stories. Hahaha. I will try to improve on that too.
Awww, thank you very much for playing it! 🙂 And for giving me feedback too. And for leaving comments here! ^_^ Thank you so much! :3
I’m sure you will learn how to make sprites in the future; for now you have to do what you can with what you have. I actually found this visual novel pretty good for your first one, so don’t worry about the sprites. I leave more spelling mistakes in my stories on Fanfiction.net, so you don’t have to worry. We all make mistakes, and we all learn from them.
Haha…I actually got Vaughn’s ending by mistake while trying to get Arvin’s ending. My advice to the person trying to get Vaughn is just to not go for any of the guys. I picked the wrong answers for any guy except Arvin, and I immediately asked for help with shopping for groceries, so Arvin didn’t help me with them on his own. Consequently, I did not get a scene with Arvin during the camp scene, and didn’t get the scene to ask him to the dance. That’s how I got Vaughn’s ending.
Oh, but I love angst. It makes things dramatic, and adds depth to the story. I once took a quiz to find out what genre of manga I would be if I were a manga…and I got slice of life. Well, I have always loved anime that had a lot of angst, so I guess it fit. Please make more visual novels like this – I honestly like it.
It’s no problem! If you can put hard work and effort into making a visual novel, and post it on Lemmasoft, even though you’re scared of criticism, then I can at least encourage you, and give you advice. You need to know what to do to make even better games in the future, right? ^_^
That’s so nice of you, Tatiana! 🙂 Thank you very much! Oh, you have an account there too? ^_^ Is it okay for me to check out your stories? I have an account in FF myself. Again, thank youuu~
Hahaha, Arvin’s and Vaughn’s paths are quite intertwined actually, that is, until you move on to the individual paths. But I’m really glad you decided to go for Arvin! ^_^ He also has the longest route.
Ahh, that’s what I wanted. 🙂 Depth. At first, I thought I should just make this a simple, fluffy short story, but it seems like I couldn’t without making the story shallow. That’s why I added a bit of drama. And I’m very happy you liked it! Weeeee~ ^_^ To be honest, I was totally nervous I might let you down or something, especially since you’ve been commenting here already even before I was done. So thank you so much for the great feedback! I’ll be sure to do better next time!
Yep! And thank you very much for giving me feedback and also, a reason to stay motivated to make more. Hahaha. ^_^ Again, thank you so much! 🙂
Um, sure, you can read my stories. I haven’t updated a lot of my stories in years, of which I am not proud, and that’s because I have lost the motivation to write. I don’t know, maybe it’s because of the events that have happened to me – you know the everyday things that are likely to happen to a person if they live long enough. Failed GED’s, Mom having a heart attack and as a result moving in with my cousins, who are great, but can be very annoying. Losing who you are and trying to find your identity again. All that good stuff. ^_^; But I went off on a long, unnecessary rant just now. Sorry about that. I hope you like my stories regardless of some being incomplete. Here is the link to my account there: http://www.fanfiction.net/u/1062964/
I haven’t tried to get the other paths yet. I’m so happy to finally get Arvin’s good ending, and I don’t want to ruin my victory by trying for another path right away and getting a bad ending. ^_^ But I will be playing the game again. Just not right now.
I know the feeling of being nervous someone might not like something you did. Do you also get that feeling when you post a story on Fanfiction.net? I know I do. But think about people who publish stories. They know the public is harsh and that their book might not sell, but they take a chance on it anyway, despite their worries. When I think about that, I feel that if they can endure harsh criticism from the world-wide public, I can endure it from random people on a site. (:
You’re welcome! Everyone needs encouragement every now and then. I know If I was you, I would want someone pushing me forward.
Wow, you have so many stories! :”) I’m gonna read the Inuyasha ones first. Mehehe. 😀 Ohh, I’m… very sorry for that. 😦 I didn’t want to bring that up, even if it’s indirectly. I hope things are going fine for you now.
Also… can I ask you one thing? 🙂 How did you find out about this visual novel project of mine? ^_^ I was just curious, since I didn’t think I posted a link to this website on my blogspot blog. 😮 Wait, did I? Hahaha.
Hahaha, alright! Thank you so much again. 🙂 That’s seriously my favorite path. ^_^
Uh-huh! I feel that way everytime I post something! I’m always nervous that someone will not like what I worked hard for or something. But I just realized… we can’t please everybody. So… when someone posts mean things about my blog post or my stories, nowadays I just let it go and chill. A few years ago I would have made an equally long response, but now… not anymore. Hahaha. I kinda just promise that I’ll do better next time. Because I will. ^_^ I admire your confidence by the way! =) And thank you very much for sharing some of that with me.
Aww… yes. Again… thank you! I really can’t thank you enough. ^_^ Your comments have really pushed me to finish this you know. 🙂 Mehehehe.
I hope you like my stories. I stopped watching Inuyasha after the Final Act series. The reason being is that it was my first anime, and the one I’ve watched the most. I pretty much know everything about the anime, and I want to enjoy watching other anime now. It’s fine. Things are going well for me now. No need to worry!
I was searching google for gxb visual novels, and found this site. I was so eager to play Seasons of Love, and it sounded really interesting. I’m sorry for not commenting when I first came across this site; I guess I didn’t think about it.
Arvin is actually my favorite character. He’s so together, level-headed, mature, fun, thoughtful, and dependable. He’s the ideal guy to me. ❤
I'm only confident online. No one can see you, (except with a webcam), and so it's easier to brush off unpleasant words. And when it comes to posting stories online, sometimes in the author's note, I will go on about how I know my story will suck or something like that, so I guess I have low self-esteem.
I'm glad! If I can motivate you to finish your game, then I'll feel like I've done something great. You know, they say when you help someone, you make yourself feel good too. That's why it's good to help people…but even without that feeling of accomplishment, you should still try to help when you can, because you never know if someone will help you in return, or if something else good will come from it. …But really, no matter what, I want to help if I can, because I might be the only one who can. Um, but I'm sure you have other people motivating you too, so I'm just another person helping you. ^_^ Ugh, I just rambled on and on. Heheh. Well, that's all I really wanted to say. I'm sure 'Seasons of Love' will be great! I can't wait to play it.
I’ve only read one story so far, the one about Hojo and Kagome, and I like it! 🙂 I was supposed to check out another one but… have you deleted that already? 😦 Ohh! My earliest memory of anime is also watching Inuyasha! When I was around 3 years old, I remember rushing to get home from my daycare class just to watch the Filipino dub of Inuyasha on TV. (And also to watch Baby Looney Toons on CN ^^) It’s crazy that my earliest childhood memory is watching TV. 😀
Ahh, that’s good. 😦 I was sad for a moment there, coz I thought I might have brought bad memories up.
Ohh! Aw, SOL is still a work in progress though. 😦 But we’re really working on it! ^^ DRT from LemmaSoft is helping me out with the story, while enta is doing the character sprites. I made this wordpress blog to record my progress on that VN, but so far, I have more posts about Summer Paradise. 😀 Thank you so much though! And I hope you’ll check it out once it done!
Mature? Mehehe, I wonder if you’d still say that if you knew him in real life? =)) Honestly speaking, I based all the characters here on real friends of mine. ^^ But I’m glad you got those thoughts about him! 🙂 It makes me feel proud of my characters. ❤
Ahh, yes, you're right. 🙂 But I'm a lot more shy online. Haha! It's really hard to gauge a person's real feelings using only words like these.
Hahaha, oh, but you've helped me a lot! ^_^ Your comments are really fun to read, y'know? 🙂 They motivate me a lot. So, thank you~ I'm going to do my best. And I hope you won't be disappointed!
Which story did you read? What is the name of it? And what is the name of the one one you tried to read but couldn’t? I remember deleting an Inuyasha story years and years ago, because it was honestly really bad, (it was my first Inuyasha story), and after I deleted it, I wished I hadn’t. But it’s all about living and learning, right? Haha. I watched Inuyasha when I was maybe nine or ten. I love Baby Looney Tunes. Have you ever seen Bonkers? Or Chip ‘n Dale Rescue Rangers? I think their both pretty old cartoons. But their also really good. I’ve learned to push aside unpleasant memories. The only thing that matters is the present, and whatever happened in the past, should stay in the past. The way to be happy is to remember to live in the here and now.
I know you’re trying hard, and I know there must be a lot to work on, so I’ll be patient. The best things come to those who wait after all. And you get the best results when you take the time to work on something. Slow and steady wins the race. (-:
Oh really? I didn’t know you based the characters off of people you know. In that case, please tell your friend what I think of him. He’s really awesome if I fell for his character or personality. And in a way, he helped you make the game, didn’t he? Since you based Arvin off of him. Just…don’t make it sound like I’m confessing. Because I’m not. Because I fell for his 2D character, not him. So I don’t like him. I mean, not like that anyway. Okay, shutting up now. Heehee.
When you put it that way, I understand how you feel. When you communicate through emails and messages, you can’t tell how a person feels. They can be sarcastic or annoyed, and you might not know, because you can’t hear the emotion in their voice or see their feelings in their expression. It is pretty scary.
I’m glad I could help. I doubt you could disappoint me. I’ve seen many visual novels by expert game makers, (like the Starry Sky series, and Tokimeki Memorial), to the most amateur visual novel, and I’ve honestly liked them all to some degree. As long as the story line is great, the artwork doesn’t matter so much to me.
Hi Tatiana! 🙂
I sent you a PM on FF. I just realized that… err… our replies are getting so long! Hahaha. It would be more proper to continue this conversation in a more private medium. Wahahahaha. :))
Again, thank you so much for the support! And for leaving comments here as well! I really appreciate everything! Thank youuu~~
Cheers!
I also left you a message, that should be in your inbox now. (:
I love your game. It’s really my type of otome. Tsaka nakakakilig talaga si Arvin, I just love him even has vices.. he can be the sweetest, I can so relate with Arvin’s route. But I loved Vaughn’s too.. I loved the part when he said ”Tell me how to get back to summer paradise with you.. And I’ll be there in a heartbeat…” then he gave a forehead kiss. That made my day! While I admire Mark.. how he waited for her, he loved Kyla because of the similarities she had with Casey, And when Mark said ”I didn’t want you to avoid me.. so I avoided you first..”, that is just priceless.
LUZVIMINDA AND JAMES ARE FOR EACHOTHER. That’s all 😉
I love your game! Make another one, Todo suporta ko promise!
Awww, it’s good that you finished them all! 🙂 And I’m happy that you liked my game. At least di nasayang pinaghirapan ko diba. Wahahaha. ^^ Thank you so much for the support and interest! It warms my heart. ❤ Nag-enjoy ako sa paggawa nito, pero masarap din malaman na may ibang nag-enjoy sa pagbabasa ng visual novel ko. 🙂 Again, maraming-maraming salamat!
And guess what.. I finished your story.. I got them all :”> I had all their neutral and good endings 😉
Oh, hey, that’s awesome! Thank you so much at pinagtiyagaan mo. Hahaha. :)) Ang sarap naman sa feeling. Wahahaha. Pati bad ends diba? So, what do you think, Ynna? ^^
